U14 Team - Part Time Option

This program develops ski racing techniques and tactics for experienced racers. The part-time U14 team is for those skiers who want to continue training Giant Slalom and Slalom, but with less of a time commitment than the full-time option.

  • PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

    U14 Team members will generally have 5-8 years’ experience in the sport as well as YSL race series experience. 

    The part-time option is for those racers who want to continue with the sport but commit less time, energy, and expense than the full-time team members.

  • PROGRAM DATES AND DAYS

    • December 9 through March 24 
    • Saturday  9am – 3pm 
    • Wednesdays starting Jan 3- Mar 20  2-4pm on Chair 2 and/or 4-6pm on Heritage T-Bar
    • 5-day holiday camp December 27 – 31
    • Summer dryland conditioning 2-3 days/week afternoons starting July 22
    • Fitness testing May and September
  • PROGRAM DETAILS

    Still focused on maintaining a fun environment, the program emphasizes ski racing tactics while continuing to develop basic technical skills. Throughout the season, training time is split the following way:


        50% coached free skiing and drills

        50% training in gates


    Directed free skiing will continue to be a focus for the development of fundamental skiing skills and technical competence. In gate training, athletes will develop the technical and tactical skills for Slalom and Giant Slalom and begin to focus on Super G skills as well.


    Summer conditioning included in program:

    •  2 -3 days per week starting in mid-July through mid-November
    • Physical assessment dates in May and September
  • COSTS

    • $1,350 if registered and paid 75% on or before 9/30/23
    • $1,450 after 9/30/23
    • A payment plan is possible
    • Scholarships are available
    • Coach travel expenses to races are invoiced equally to attending families

  • EQUIPMENT NEEDED

    • Hard shell ski helmet covering ears   
    • SL and GS skis; SG skis optional, and FVSEF has several pairs to loan for season
    • Race suit
    • SL protective gear: pole guards, chin guard, shin guards
    • Back protector recommended for SG
    • Mouth guard recommended

    • November Thanksgiving Camp - tentatively scheduled for 11/22-26 (extra cost) – in Panorama, BC.
