U16 Race Team Coach

Flathead Valley Ski Team is seeking an alpine Coach to lead our U16 Team for the 2024/2025 season. This is a full or part-time seasonal position depending on level of commitment desired. The U16 team frequently trains with the U14 and U18 teams, so the coach will work in coordination with those age group coaches. FVSEF is a smaller but growing program with great staff to athlete ratios. The right applicant may also have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the club.

Applicants must

  • be certified coaches in good standing with US Ski & Snowboard.
  • be willing and able to successfully work in a team environment that includes on and off hill work with U14, U16, and U18/FIS athletes, FVSEF coaches, and other divisional teams.
  • have experience with alpine ski racing and training and the ability to organize, direct, and lead a group of athletes.
  • be willing and able to travel to divisional and regional USSS races.
  • assist in planning/organizing and lead preseason training camps.
  • assist or lead preseason dryland training sessions.
  • assist with managing B-net on training and race hill.
  • have a desire to learn, be driven to success, and have a willingness to accept feedback.
  • be relatable to teens in these age groups; and
  • have strong communication skills.

Head Coach All Mountain Ranger – Learn to Race Program

Flathead Valley Ski Team at Whitefish Mountain Resort is seeking an alpine coach to lead an entry level program for the 2024/2025 season. This is a full-time, six-month seasonal position. On-snow sessions are offered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 9am-3pm December to March, plus eight mid-winter Wednesdays from 4-6pm. FVSEF is a smaller but growing program with great staff to athlete ratios.  The head coach oversees approximately 15 part-time coaches and program delivery to about 160 kids. The head coach will also need to coach a group of kids on each of the days the program is offered. The right applicant will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the club.


The All Mountain Ranger – Learn to Race program is our introductory program designed for skiers aged seven or older with a solid foundation in parallel skiing looking to increase their technical skills. The program is appropriate for skiers who have been skiing with parents and/or the ski school for at least two to five years and who would be categorized as Phase 1 or 2 skiers by US Ski & Snowboard’s Alpine Training System:


Coaches concentrate on developing the skills and confidence for participants to ski all appropriate terrain and conditions. An introduction to gate skiing is included. Coaches also teach Rangers how to be the best citizens on the mountain - good behavior and a positive attitude are essential. A general breakdown of the season and daily regimen includes: 

  • 60% all mountain skiing
  • 30% coached drills and skill development
  • 10% gate training. 


Applicants must

  • be a L100 certified coach in good standing with US Ski & Snowboard.
  • be willing and able to successfully work in a team environment that includes on and off hill work with U8, U10, and U12 skiers and FVSEF coaches.
  • have experience with alpine ski racing and training and the ability to organize, direct, and lead an entry level program.
  • assist in planning and organizing coach training/development in the pre-season and throughout the season.
  • be able to create, communicate, and implement a weekly training plan for coaches, parents, and athletes.
  • assist with managing B-net on training and race hill, if needed.
  • have a desire to learn, be driven to success, and have a willingness to accept feedback.
  • have strong verbal and written communication skills; be comfortable communicating with parents and coaches frequently via email.

All Mountain Ranger - Learn to Race Coaches

We are seeking alpine coaches to assist the All Mountain Rangers Lead Coach for the 2024/2025 season. This is a part-time, seasonal position December through March. Available coaching days are Saturdays and/or Sundays 9:00am-3pm with an hour break for lunch.

Applicants must

  • be members in good standing with US Ski & Snowboard.
  • be willing and able to successfully work in a team environment that includes on-snow work with young skiers age 7-12.
  • have experience with alpine ski racing and training and the ability to organize and manage a group of young skiers in a dynamic and variable outdoor environment.
  • have a desire to learn and have a willingness to accept feedback; and
  • have strong communication skills.
