FVSEF Scholarship Opportunities

FVSEF Scholarship Program

FVSEF is offering a scholarship program to remove financial barriers for athletes in the Flathead Valley who would like to participate in FVSEF programs.  This program is funded 100% by direct contributions to this special offering.  If you would like to support the Scholarship Program, you can select Donate from the Support FVSEF tab above or go directly to the Donate Now page. Make sure you indicate your donation is for the Ski Team Scholarship Fund.

Scholarships are available for the following:

  • Program fees
  • Equipment
  • Travel to races
  • Summer or fall race camps

Download and print the application form. Applications are to be completed by the athlete (athletes under 12 can have parent assistance) and submit their applications to FVSEF by mail: PO Box 623, Whitefish, MT 59937 or by email to hilary@fvsef.org.

Application submittals should include the following:

  • Application form including explanation of the need and what scholarship you are applying for.
  • A letter or video explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship. This will include:
    1. Your overall approach and philosophy towards skiing and your future goals in skiing. 
    2. How this grant / scholarship will help you achieve your goals. 
    3. Description of any community involvement or activities. 
    4. A story from your ski team or racing experience that highlights or demonstrates one of FVSEF’s values. Please reference Parent Athlete handbook for a description of these values. 
  • Your skiing results, at least one year. 
  • Last year’s or most current academic transcripts.
  • Brief statement describing future educational goals. 
  • Two Reference Letters from non-family members. One from your coach is acceptable and encouraged. 

Application Deadlines for 2023/24 Season are as follows:

  • 2023 Summer and Fall camp Scholarship Applications due 6/1/23 and 10/15/23
  • 23-24 Season Applications due 9/1/23

Scholarship applications will be reviewed and ranked for award according to the following:

  • 50 pts     Letter or Video  - From the athlete as much as possible depending on age of athlete
  • 20 pts     Academics - 20 pts for a 4.0 and 10 pts for 3.0
  • 20 pts     Reference Letters - Up to 10 pts for Each
  • 10 pts     Ski Results - Best 3 from Last Season
